The entire topic is bringing the thinking of where do I come from, step from the top of a 100 foot pole and come down to the bottom is not an easy task. I have grown up normally like all other children not realizing the difficulties that my grandparent went through. The reason why I could not notice that was because when I come from school there was always food irrespective of where the food is coming from and how?
This old lady never complain about anything related to that and to our upbringing not knowing that she shared deep pains inside her watching us growing up, at a later stage when I was starting high school level I started to notice things but could not say a word. We continued growing up attending school affording in a pension grant until Grade 12 where things were tough in such into an extent that I could not make it for that year.
I stayed at home looking for jobs in the surrounding Eastern Cape homes precisely to work as a domestic worker getting paid R200 at the end of the month. In 1999 I trained as a Security in East London, in the same year I was employed as a security at the so called Transkei College and Cicira College today known as Walter Sisulu University (WSU). I started to pay at least R400 per month. Down the line I fall pregnant, huhhhh that was another issue.
The contract was terminated and the other company took over, all of us were retrenched. At that time we were not familiar with Provident Fund and UIF therefore we just go out with nothing. When the going gets rough that old lady just ask me to leave the child at home when my child was 4 months old. She said you can go and look for a job. I returned back to square 1 and look for a job as a domestic worker because I wanted to be close to my child.

Sooner I realized that my child was growing up in the long run I will not be able to support him. I came up with another strategy of thinking. I left home and travelled far more than 12 hours away from home. I built my bridge for 5 years to come back to the Tertiary level. I started by finishing my Grade 12, then Short Course in Public Relations at Cape Peninsula University of Technology and National Diploma in PR. I am still moving slowly like a Chameleon in my studies I am now in Btech Public Relations
That is “How do I step from the top of a 100 foot Pole”
This was my best way to do it so that I can return to 100 foot pole again and stay there forever.
The story is too long just wish you will never ask is hurting
